Stay at Arka Dhama

Arka Dhama is a multi-faceted meditation, yoga and ayurveda centre, established by Yogi Srinivas Arka over 40 years ago and developed into an inviting place that inspires people from all walks of life from countries all over the world. Arka Dhama is a serene and highly energizing environment where you can rejuvenate, revive and replenish your self. 

There is lush vegetation that provides an abundance of oxygen; there are organically farmed vegetables and fruits; there are facilities to do yoga and meditation; there is a beautiful temple and nature trails for walking; and there are valuable opportunities to volunteer.

Arka Dhama is unique in its endeavour to be self sufficient and reduce any activities harmful to the environment. 

Stays for guests are paid as donations of Rs. 2000 per room per night (for one persion, additional persons at Rs. 500 per night each). Donations are accepted at the Administration office which would be helpful for the smooth functioning and maintenance of Arka Dhama.

Activities and Facilities

There are many activities such as cow feeding at designated times, organic gardening and harvesting of fruits and vegetables, nature trails, with meditation, ayurvedic treatment and therapy sessions (associated costs) and special temple poojas (associated costs). A pure vegetarian food catering center operates on-premise, ensuring all meals are prepared with fresh, organic ingredients in accordance with our holistic living principles.

Barring any medical issues, guests are required to attend Yoga and Arka Dhyana Yoga classes daily. Arka Dhyana is a heart-level, intuitive meditation that was developed by Yogi Srinivas Arka. These classes are also complimentary.

Guest Rules and Tips

  • Guests must book accommodation with the administrator prior to arriving at Arka Dhama.
  • Arrival dates, times, and any special requests including dietary or personal, must be communicated in advance of arrival.
  • Upon arrival, guests are to check in with the administrator.
    A lock and key for the room will be issued to guests; as they may not use their own locks.
  • Three pure vegetarian meals will be served daily along with morning and afternoon tea/coffee.
    • Breakfast from 8:00 am to 10:30 am, with tea/coffee
    • Lunch from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
    • Tea/Coffee from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
    • Dinner from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
  • If guests have any special requests for a meal, they must speak to the administrator.
  • Alcohol and smoking are prohibited in all rooms and in all areas of Arka Dhama.
  • Hair dryers and irons are not provided.
  • Guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous and considerate manner during their stay.
  • Guests come for peace, relaxation, rejuvenation and inspiration; therefore, space and privacy and freedom should be given to them.
  • Loud singing and music in the rooms and on the grounds are prohibited.
  • Rooms must be kept neat and tidy with garbage being separated in bins marked: paper garbage and non-paper garbage. Any bio-degradable waste must be placed in appropriate bins located around Arka Dhama.
  • Guests must respect the Gaushala and not feed cows outside of their feeding times.
  • Guests should have limited interaction with any staff and local visitors.
  • Exchange of telephone numbers with staff is strictly prohibited.
  • If any services from staff are required, guests must speak to the administrator; staff should not be contacted directly.
  • If there are any issues with staff, guests may speak to the administrator.
  • Guests should not offer gifts or other compensation to staff.
  • Caring for the Arka Dhama Environment:
  • Guests must use marked garbage bins for all garbage.
  • Unwanted items may not be discarded anywhere on Arka Dhama property.
  • Soap, shampoo and laundry soap will be provided. No outside soap is permitted for use.
  • There is no laundry service at Arka Dhama therefore light, breathable clothes that are easy to wash and dry are recommended.
  • A board detailing all events for the day will be situated near the guest accommodations.
  • Guests are required to attend Kannada and Sanskrit classes which are complimentary. Sanskrit is a sacred and ancient language which was spoken by the higher beings that inhabited the earth many years ago.

  • There are many optional activities such as cow feeding at designated times, organic gardening and harvesting of fruits and vegetables, nature trails, with meditation, ayurvedic treatment and therapy sessions (associated costs) and special temple poojas (associated costs).
  • Guests who wish to sightsee or travel to the city must book taxis (associated costs) with the administrator.
  • Guests are welcome to offer a donation at the Administration office which would be helpful for the smooth functioning and maintenance of Arka Dhama.
  • The room will be ready for you to use, with bedlinen. If you wish to, please bring your own and your guests’ set of bedding including pillows and blankets.
  • Please bring your own towel as these are not provided.
  • Please bring your own electrical accessories, including phone chargers and extension leads or power packs. Please note most electrical sockets do not support equipment of high voltage (iron or hairdryer etc), use of such items could cause an outage.
  • Internet access cannot always be guaranteed.
  • Avoid bringing valuables and carry only necessary cash. Keep your room and belongings secure. Arka Dhama is not liable for any loss or damage. Return your room key to the Administrator upon departure.
  • Bring essentials like a torch, batteries, rainwear, mosquito repellent, and a metal or glass water bottle. Use eco-friendly, plastic-free products. A hat for sun protection is also recommended.
  • A limited set of essentials may be available from Arka Dhama including mosquito repellent cream, batteries, locks, environmentally friendly toiletries, etc.
  • Your active participation in yoga, Arka Dhyana, daily cow feeding and communal pooja services is strongly encouraged.
  • Keep your personal space and communal areas clean. In accordance with our natural site, please dispose of trash properly and use resources like water and electricity sparingly.
  • Do not offer gifts to the staff – this is strictly prohibited. To show your appreciation or to make a donation, contact the management team for proper arrangements, possibly with a ceremony.
  • Please limit your interactions with staff and students to what is strictly necessary.
  • Please do not wander into unauthorized areas such as priests’ quarters, kitchens and storerooms, etc.
  • Please do not feed the cows on your own, as their food is given at specific times. There are opportunities to sponsor their food.
